Newstead College provides education for approximately 700 Year 11 and 12 students on either academic or vocational pathways. Our safe supportive College provides a rich learning environment for all students to complete their secondary education and gain the skills needed to meet the goals outlined in their pathway plans.
Students are supported to gain either tertiary entrance requirements (ATAR) or vocational certificates alongside the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE). Our College culture is one where students are strongly encouraged to contribute to the wider community via participating in cultural programs, volunteering work placements and fund-raising events.

Our Facilities
Newstead College was built in 1997 on a single level providing easy access to students with mobility problems. It has an extensive wired and wireless computer network, specialist language facilities, photography &art suites, gym & weights room, auditorium, recording & dance studios, industrial kitchen, woodwork facilities, well-equipped science laboratories & modern library facilities.

A well-equipped language laboratory supporting the teaching of French, German, Italian and Japanese.
Looking Glass Productions, a performing arts company showcasing musicals in local theatres.
Master classes for Year 10 students.
Involvement with the UTAS College program to enable students to be extended by completing University units whilst still at College.
A global community project supporting an orphanage and house building in Cambodia.
Regular overseas and interstate trips and excursions.
A timetable staff/student meeting time for students seeking individual help alongside a tutorial program and support for numeracy, literacy and ICT.
A work placement program associated with vocational courses.
A strong flexible learning program for students studying off campus.
An international student program for fee paying and exchange students which provides support and educational and cultural experiences whilst they study with us.
